Tirumala Pictures commenced its business in the year 1978 with its first Hindi film distribution "Solva Sawaan" followed by its in-house production, Odia feature film "Tapasya" which bagged many coveted awards along with 7 out 8 state awards and did roaring business. The success of "Tapasya" lead to production & distribution of series of Odia film like"Jananee", "Jaga Hatare Pagha", "Mamata Mage Mula", "Mohinee","Thakura Achhanti Chaubahaku", "Kotie Manisha Gotie Jaga","Pathara Khasuchi Bada Deula Ru","Rupa Gaon Ra Suna Kanya" etc.

  Tirumala Pictures succesfully distributed a number of Hindi & English films like "Ek Duje Ke Liye", "Himmatwala", "Tohfa", "Mawaali", "Jaani Dost", "Sharara", "Kaamyaab", "Qaidi", "Justice Choudhury", "Titanic" etc. It made number of Odia telesoaps like "Chatura Binoda Katha", "Geetamala Chitramala", "Geetamala Tirumala","Tipi Tipi Chaya Giti"(With DART rating surpassing Prime time News on DD, Odia) etc. It had got the privilege of getting the assignment of "kaanchi Vijaya"(Hindi) from Doordarshan Kendra, New Delhi.
